Silent Night (in Irish)

Enya – Silent Night (in Irish)

One of my favourite hymns, it was written by Reverend Mohr and composed by his church organist Franz Gruber and performed for the first time by the Oberndorf choir in the year 1818. It was set to guitar rather than the organ as the organ was in disrepair. I guess the original must have been in German. I have great regard for this hymn as it symbolizes the peace i associate with Jesus. This Irish version by Enya is so extremely beautiful that it moves me to tears taking the peaceful feeling to it’s limit – almost as if the Tolkein’s elves themselves are singing in praise of Jesus.
